Hi, we’re Bo and DrKat! We’re mental health professionals who are dedicated to helping folks and our fellow military families / veterans reclaim their lives from PTSD.

Dr.Kat is a Clinical Psychologist, and Bo is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, but you might also call us Chief PTSD Explainers. We help people who are in intimate relationships with partners suffering from PTSD, and want to move from surviving to thriving. We know from both our personal and professional experiences that PTSD can be managed. You can be loved, honored, and respected, the way you deserve to be.

Our Approach

We strive for authenticity and integrity in our personal lives, as well as our business lives. We are the same in the therapy room, on the internet, and in our personal lives because to us, it feels exhausting to be any other way.  Our personal relationship as a couple is based on these values, as well as humor.  Life can be just too hard without humor! When working with you, we hope it will feel like a conversation with a purpose around the kitchen table.

Our Story

Bo is retired Air Force NCO, and Desert Storm Combat Veteran. Dr. Kat has been a military spouse, and was Active Duty Army. We met and married in Alaska, where Bo was stationed. When we met, Dr. Kat was a single mom and we both had only high school diplomas. We encouraged each other to go back to school in our 40’s.

Bo has a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and a former Psychology Professor in the California State College System. Currently, he is in private practice in the High Desert of California. He also has more than 40 years working with Active Duty Military, veterans, and their families.

Dr.Kat holds both a Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is in private practice in the High Desert of California, where she works with the LGBT community, trauma survivors, veterans and their families.

We are no strangers to living with PTSD. Dr.Kat developed PTSD due to early childhood trauma, which she has since learned to manage.

We have come to believe that digging up bones and reliving trauma is not the best way to learn to manage PTSD. We believe that our deep understanding of the brain and nervous system, the role of families in recovery from PTSD and our unique coaching techniques can help far more people than we currently reach practicing one on one therapy. Our mission is to reach as many people and families as we can, reduce the stigma to getting help, and raise families up out of survival mode. If all you are doing is surviving, that’s not living a LIFE!

We want you to know you are not alone in your struggle.

We know how to manage PTSD and are here to help.
